In Oasis Valley, House finches are year-round residents and breeders, although many leave in the colder winter months. They are most common in spring and summer. In May the fast varied musical singing of House finches fills the valley. Males even sing in flight.
^A female. Finches can be found in many habitats, from house yards, old fields, cottonwood groves, to far out in the arid creosote deserts.
^A male eating Cleome seeds in a weedy spot, fall. I have also seen finches eating willow catkins, native thistle seeds, drying grass and wildflower seeds in summer, and also the peaches off my tree.
