Insect-eating fliers at sunset, dusk, and into the night, nighthawks are summer residents in Oasis Valley, Nevada. I have not yet found their nests, which are often on the ground in arid creosote desert and stony ground, but the males actively chase females in spring, "singing" their strange gaggle.
