Flickers are common wintering birds in Oasis Valley, early arrivals appearing in August, but the bulk arriving with the first winter storms and colder weather in October. They leave in April. Breeding takes place in wooded montane habitats all over Nevada.
Flickers use all trees in the area, from planted elms to native cottonwoods and willows. They also feed on the ground at times.
